Charitable Donations – Beating Bowel Cancer

Steve Smith was a hugely popular sports association member through his involvement with Hazlemere Sports FC. Steve was one of the first volunteers to offer to help with the huge task of running a brand new pavilion when it first opened in June 2010. Even after he was first diagnosed with this horrible disease, he was still keen to help out with bar duties on an unpaid basis. Sadly Steve died in June 2013, aged only 31.

Had we have been afforded the opportunity by Mr Mapletoft and his cronies to negotiate a fair pavilion tenancy solution, then we would have liked to have renamed the bar that Steve loved so much as ‘Smiffy’s Bar’. Hopefully that day will still come should we find a new home.

Many of his mates including Sean Day, Aaron Cox, Chris Spratt & Simon Pike, all HSA members, have done a fantastic job organising events that have raised thousands of pounds for the Beating Bowel Cancer charity. HSA has done their bit too, as evidenced by these thank-you letters  we’ve received.

RIP Steve Smith
A truly great guy.
